Our Concern for the Environment

In the Philippines, calamities, disasters and environmental degradation are increasingly experienced. Our beloved town is no exception. Every Mainitnon has a fundamental right to a healthy environment and access to natural resources, which are vital for our well-being and our livelihoods. MI recognizes the importance of preserving the environment and empowering our community to make better choices to safeguard their homes and their surroundings.

Mainit, with its vast natural resources, the most prominent of which is Lake Mainit, needs a well-informed, engaged and vigilant community so that all may be able to choose environmentally sound sustainable practices and the community continues to enjoy the rich resources for the present and future generations.

Our Commitment to Preserving the Environment

As a community, we are deeply committed to preserving our natural and aquatic resources. To achieve this, we have initiated various environmental projects such as tree planting activities and environmental awareness programs for the youth. By raising environmental consciousness, we empower Mainitnons to make informed decisions especially when considering the impacts of industries such as mining and land development.

Educational Initiatives for a Sustainable Future

One environmental awareness project we are working on focuses on instilling a greater understanding and appreciation of the environment among the youth. We are developing instructional materials can be springboard classroom discussions on the role of each one in safeguarding the natural world.

Community Involvement and Collaboration

Preserving our environment requires a collective effort. We encourage local stakeholders, businesses, and individuals to join hands in supporting our projects and initiatives towards a sustainable and resilient environment that benefits everyone.

Our focus on environmental preservation and awareness is a testament to our commitment to a greener and healthier future for Mainitnons.

A number of these projects were made possible through our partnership with Tambayayong Mainit Inc., a Philippines Security Exchange Commission (SEC)-registered local non-governmental civic organization based and operating in Mainit, Surigao del Norte.
