One of the main priorities of Mainitnon Incorporated is to support the education of Mainitnon schoolchildren and help address gaps in their learning process. MI works closely with school administrators, PTAs, and other local stakeholders to identify these needs. Our projects on education are carefully planned to complement local initiatives to make them impactful and sustainable. Our initiatives range from providing school supplies to underprivileged schools, funding for physical libraries and e-libraries to improve access to educational resources for both teachers and students, funding and supporting reading-feeding programs for those who need them most.

Through these linkages and partnerships, we are making a positive impact on the learning experiences of these students, giving them the support they need to succeed.

Providing Support Through School Supplies

The reality is, not all students in Mainit have access to basic school supplies. Imagine trying to learn how to read and write without these essential resources. Ensuring that schoolchildren have the necessary school supplies is fundamental to their success. We strive to make a significant difference by donating items such as pencils, paper, pens, notebooks, books, backpacks, and even slippers and umbrellas to those in need. These kids also feel that their community cares about them and their future. This may be simple to some people, but we know these donations go a long way.

Meeting Classroom and Teachers' Needs

It's not just the students who need support. Teachers and their classrooms also benefit from provision of adequate resources. Teachers often spend their own money to buy supplies for their classrooms. We provided printers and libraries to selected schools so they can produce materials for their schoolchildren. Also, we conducted workshops and other professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance their teaching methods and strategies. We plan to do more of this.

Feeding and Reading Programs

We recognize the crucial role that good nutrition plays in children's ability to learn effectively. To address this, we partnered with a local school to create a program aimed at helping students who were struggling the most with reading. Through this initiative, we provided targeted reading instruction and nutritious meals, ensuring that students could focus on learning with full bellies. As a result, the students not only learned to read but also significantly improved their reading comprehension. We hope to replicate this success with another school in need.

The Role of Scholarships in Education

Many Mainitnon families struggle to afford the cost of education, which can limit a person's opportunities. Scholarships can bridge this gap, providing financial support and making education accessible to more students. Scholarships can cover various expenses, from tuition fees to textbooks and transportation. By offering scholarships for technical and vocational courses, we help ensure that talented and hardworking students have the chance to pursue their educational goals regardless of their financial background.

How You Can Help

There are numerous ways you can support our educational efforts. Donating school supplies, volunteering time for educational projects, or funding scholarships are just a few options. Even small contributions can make a big difference in a child's education. By coming together as a community, we can help create a supportive and enriching environment for schoolchildren, ensuring they have every opportunity to succeed.

A number of these projects were made possible through our partnership with Tambayayong Mainit Inc., a Philippines Security Exchange Commission (SEC)-registered local non-governmental civic organization based and operating in Mainit, Surigao del Norte.
